I wrote Just Believe partly as a reaction to the murderous invasion of Ukraine by the madman Putin. Naturally my original lyrics ran along the lines of "kill Putin kill Putin" but I soon realized this does not help anyone. Instead I wrote the song from the perspective of the Ukraine people, what they might think and believe to keep their struggle alive. Hence the reference to the colors blue and golden in the opening verses, and the lyrics "The colors of our flag unfurled/We fight for every day".
